3 Things to Avoid When Whitening Your Teeth

At the very least, though, you should wait at least three days after a whitening treatment to consume these foods; otherwise, you may reverse the effects of the whitening treatment.

  1. Avoid Foods that Commonly Impact Sensitive Gums

A number of foods, such as extra cold or hot beverages, sweets, and sour foods can be irritating and even painful to sensitive teeth and gums. After a whitening treatment, teeth may be especially sensitive. It’s best to avoid these items for a few days after a whitening treatment to give your teeth some time to recover.

  1. Avoid Brushing Your Teeth Immediately After a Whitening Treatment

Right after a whitening treatment, you may be tempted to grab your toothbrush immediately; however, doing this isn’t necessarily in the best interests of your teeth! After a whitening treatment, your teeth will need some time to remineralize. It’s best to wait at least 30 minutes after a whitening to brush; however, you should read the instructions on the whitening product you’re using for specific information.
